Dear all connected with Hanwood Church (July 2025)
Church Heating
You may know that during last winter the boiler that has served the church for many years failed beyond repair. After much research and consultation a plan for replacement was formed.
A new system has been planned using a 3-phase electrical system powering under pew heating.
The 3 phase cables have been put into Hanwood church and a smart meter for the electricity fitted. This comes with a small reader which can tell us how much electricity we have used/are using at the moment. This is on the window sill in the vestry.
The under pew heaters were fitted in June.
Many thanks to all those who have contributed to the cost of the heating. Tim persuaded an oil company to take away the oil that was in the tank and they have paid us £194 for that which helps. We have been blessed by some very generous donations and four different grants totalling £17500 which is wonderful. This means we are short by just under £3000 which is pleasing.
Other news
I have tried to get a grant for the cost of cutting the yew trees back (£2300) but without success so have asked the company to book a date and the earliest they can do is Monday 24 November.
I have agreed with the builder that they will repair the floor in the back of the social area when they can between jobs on a rainy day - pray for the right time for this and rain! I have applied for one final grant to cover the cost of this and the guttering and hope we will receive that - they meet at the end of June. Do pray they will.
If anyone else would like to contribute to any of the above - your donation would be much appreciated.
Blessings
Graham
